Our Forth of July looked slightly different that years past… We did not get up early to stake out our spot at the Round Top Parade. And we did not grill out with family and friends. Instead, this year thanks to Covid-19, we enjoyed the day at home.
We put our pool in last summer and I am so freakin’ thankful! It has been a life saver these past few months! I told Jeff late last night after everyone was winding down again how thankful for I am for it and how different our weekend would have been had we not had it. It was HOT this weekend. Like triple digits hot. And crazy humid. We would have been stuck inside all day with these crazy kids driving us nuts!
Jeff also used our time at home to go through some old tubs we had in the garage. He found old tubes we once used to float the river and these pink tubes I had purchased once in a hurry to go to a Float-n-Flick several summers back. The kids decided the tubes were perfect for a game of bumper boats. 😉
Around eight, we headed out to my parents house (outside city limits) to pop some fireworks. We hated that we did not get to spend the day with them but thought it would be fine to gather outside in lawn chairs for a bit.
My favorite pics are the ones I caught of the kids running away from whatever they just lit… Run, Gage!
My little firecrackers!
Kevyn said this was her face mask for the evening… Haha!
Glow sticks somehow instantly made Gage a superhero…
We headed back home shortly after nine and then watched fireworks show our local volunteer fire department puts on. Again, it was definitely different than years past, but it still ended up being a great day. Throughout this pandemic I’ve been reminded so many times just how important being around my people are. I’m anxiously awaiting the day we can put this Covid mess behind us!
