This year for spring break, we planned a little road trip with the final destination of Gulf Shores, AL. We left bright (errr.. I mean dark) and early Wednesday morning and made it all the way to Lafayette, LA before stopping at a Cracker Barrel for breakfast. I drove my car with my mom as my co-pilot and all four kids. Jeff drove my parents car with my Dad and all the luggage. #heowesme
In case you forgot, at this point the coronavirus had not blown up to what it is today. Right before we left we had heard that SXSW had gotten cancelled and were absolutely shocked. At the time it just seemed like overkill. Sadly, it was when we stopped at this Cracker Barrel that I checked my phone and found our that Kelby’s national basketball tournament had gotten cancelled also.

We made it to New Orleans right before noon. We had a few hours to kill before the food tour that I had booked so we walked around for a bit.

Older sisters will always make you do all the girlie things… Haha!

My mom and I both got drinks (refer back to the car ride arrangements) while strolling around. Extra shot of rum? Yes, please!

I just love all the buildings downtown!

We love going on food tours because they take you to establishments you probably wouldn’t go to on your own and allow you to try things you probably wouldn’t order on your own. Plus, its a fun way to learn the history of an area! This shrimp po’boy was delicious!

Cash was a fan of the alligator sausage!

Our tour guide took us to get beignets that she swore were better than Cafe Du Monde. We were ALL a fan!

Just look at that shirt! Haha!

The rest of the evening we continued to explore downtown (aka walk off some of what we just ate!) and hit up a Shake Shack for a small snack before an early bedtime.

I like to put together small compilations of the videos I have for the day.
I’ll be back tomorrow with Part 2 of our spring break getaway!
