Today I’m recapping our fourth and final day at Disneyland. If you’ve stuck with me this long, thanks! If you missed a day, you can click on the links below…
On our last day at Disneyland, we headed back to California Adventure. And again, we were up and at early for that extra magic hour. Jeff and the girls headed straight to the Incredicoaster and the boys and I did a few smaller rides.
They weren’t super thrilled that Kelby & Kevyn got to ride the big rides and they were stuck riding the “baby” rides. Case in point below…
See that big ferris wheel in the background. Jeff, Kelby, Cash, and Gage were all riding that but Kevyn opted not to. So instead, she and I found something to snack on while waiting.
Can you spy my crew?!?
While we were waiting, we saw that they were setting up for pictures with Sully so we hopped in line!
Back to Guardians of the Galaxy! Or as the boys call it, the “up down up down.” Haha! Look at Gage’s hands before the big drop! They loved it!
Another turn on the Cars ride! Jeff commented that I always only have one hand up… It’s because I’m always holding caps and bags with my other hand! Mom’s hands are NEVER empty!
More sweet treats for my sweets! 😉
Again, we didn’t stay super late. I’m thinking it was 3 or 4 when we headed back to our room. We hung out for a bit before heading to Downtown Disney for the evening. This picture cracks me up… You can’t take us anywhere. Haha!
The next morning, our driver picked us up at 9 and took us to the airport. Thankfully our flight home was a direct flight and we had no hiccups. It was such a fun trip and we already scheming our next getaway!
Ok, now to a few tips that will make your Disneyland vacation more enjoyable for the entire family!
First off, if you can stay at the Grand Californian, DO IT! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT! You don’t have to worry about trams or buses to get you to the parks… They are both just a short walk! That private entrance into California Adventure is priceless especially if you have young kids!
Next, utilize that extra magic hour! Yes, it’s early but we literally walked right onto rides without any wait! Now you must stay at a Disney resort to able to get the extra magic hour which is another benefit of the Grand Californian. I did see on Disneyland website that if you purchase a three day or more ticket you receive one Magic Morning which is essentially the same thing. However, we were able to enter the parks early everyday!
Buy the MaxPass! I think it is roughly $30 more per ticket per day but this includes the PhotoPass and it will allow you to reserve FastPasses on the Disneyland app versus physically walking to the various rides and pulling FastPass tickets! This is a huge time saver! Also, as soon as you use a FastPass you can pull a new one. So immediately after we would scan our FastPasses to get in line, I would get on my app to pull a new FastPass! We were able to ride so many rides in a short period of time by doing this!
Which brings me to my next tip, bring a portable charger for your phone! I was always on my phone checking wait times, getting FastPasses, and taking pictures. You don’t want to run out of battery!
This probably goes without saying, but dress for comfort and not fashion! We all wore workout type attire (leggings, athletic pants, etc.) and athletic shoes every day. You walk a ton and the last thing you want is to be regretting the cute shoes you wanted to wear. Plus, athletic wear is going to dry faster if you happen to get wet on a ride that has water.
Because I didn’t want any surprises on this trip, I opted to have a driver pick us up and drop us off at the airport versus using Uber. I also ordered these travel booster seats for the boys so we didn’t have to haul around larger booster seats for them and they worked great! We have several trips coming up that I plan on using them again. Two fit in my backpack no problem!
My last and probably biggest tip is to RELAX! I think we moms can get overwhelmed by all the blogs and Pinterest posts telling us how to perfectly plan our Disney vacations. Yes, I planned quite a bit of ours but when the crowds ended up being more than I wanted to handle, we changed our plans and headed back to the hotel room instead. We ended up having really relaxing evenings together which is something I struggle with at home (due to my mind telling me I should be getting something done around the house instead!). Do not run yourselves ragged trying to make all the shows and parades! My kids were perfectly fine watching fireworks from our balcony in the evenings in our pajamas. Just enjoy the moment!
Ok, that wraps up our Disneyland vacation! See you later in the week, friends!
