We are officially on summer break and we could not be happier! We have our summer bucket list made and trips planned. We. are. ready!!!
Last Thursday evening, C had his kindergarten graduation. At our school, kindergarten and our 8th graders have one joined graduation ceremony. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t tear up thinking about Kelby only being at our school two more years… Time flies, friends!
C looked so sweet walking in…
His class performed a “rap” song and it was so cute!
C and his teacher, Mrs. Appel.
Kevyn also had Mrs. Appel for Pre-K and we just love her! I truly believe she is just what C needed for his first year of school. She is an amazing teacher and loves her students dearly.
C taking a peek at his fan club as he was exiting… 😉
After the ceremony, there was a small reception in the fellowship hall for the graduates. I had picked up Natalie & Neely after school that day so they were there with us to celebrate as well. Their school let out at noon that day for summer break and we thought they would like to join us on all of our last day of school activities. G was up past his bedtime and it showed… Haha!
The next morning, we were up early so that I could get all the last day of school pictures…
And so that we could have our traditional last day of school breakfast with Granny & Poppa!
At our school, the last day always looks like this… 8:15 chapel, 9:15 awards ceremony, 10:15 class parties, and 11:15 dismissal.
Kevyn received a hand bell award…
C received an “On a Roll” award. Our kindergarten does not do grades. They receive checks, check minus, or check plus.
Kevyn received 4th grade honor roll for the year…
And Kelby also received 6th grade honor roll for the year.
I’m so proud of all my kids and how hard they worked this year! We’ve had some pretty big changes in our family this year, but you wouldn’t know it looking at their grades. They ALL did so well!
After awards, Natalie, Neely, and I made the rounds going to class parties! Both Natalie & Neely enjoyed seeing old friends and it warmed my heart to see how their old classmates welcomed them back for the day. Kevyn’s class party was Luau themed…
Kelby’s class had a “brunch.” She said it was lame AND REQUESTED I BE ROOM MOM NEXT YEAR! Say what?!? Now while I would like to tell myself that she wants me to be room mom because I’m super cool and the class parties would be AMAZING, in reality I know it is because she wants to be in charge of the parties and this is her way of accomplishing that. (Kelby, I know you are reading this… I WOULD DO SO GOOD! AND I PROMISE NOT TO MAKE EYE CONTACT AT ANY CLASS PARTIES! PROMISE!)
C’s class did various outside water activities…
And Kevyn’s class ended up outside as well for some water fun!
After school let out, we headed to a friend’s house for a pool party! It was the perfect way to start summer break!
Friends, I am so thankful summer is here! I implemented a rule a few years ago that my kids are not allowed to sign up for any evening activities in the summer. I’ve become VERY selfish with our summer evenings. I love how laid back we can be and I don’t want an evening piano lesson or soccer camp to interrupt our evening. We run enough during the school year to makeup for my summer selfishness.
Now during the day, our kids are busy! G & C are both signed up at school for their summer programs. Kevyn has signed up for 8 CAMPS this summer! Haha! Each time a flyer would come home for a new camp, she would bring it to me to sign her up! Kelby has not fully committed on all the camps, but she plans on doing some soccer practices during the day. All the kids have summer reading goals… Some goals are set by the local library’s summer reading program, some are due to required summer reading for their teachers next year, and some goals have been set by Jeff & I. We promised a sweet reward if they meet their goals.
That’s it for today, friends! I’m off to do some summer reading too!
