Ahh! So this is actually the second time I’m typing this post… The first one disappeared… grrr!
We’ve been super busy and I’m just now getting a chance to post part 3 of our San Francisco trip. You can view part 1 here and part 2 here.
On our final day in San Francisco, we booked a tour through The Painted Ladies Tour Company to wine country! We were given instructions to meet our guide near Union Station and once again we showed up really early. During our trip, Google was having a convention and it was estimated that an additional 50,000 people were in the city! Because of that, everyone warned us of the possible traffic delays and recommended extra travel time.
Because our guys love taking pictures (haha!) we took advantage of our early arrival…
We also snuck in to The Westin St. Francis to use their restrooms before the 1+ hour long drive to Sonoma Valley…
So pretty!
Our first stop was at Kunde Family Winery. Everything was just so beautiful!
After several tastings, we were led into their wine cave. The caves house about 6000 barrels of wine and keep it at a constant 58 degrees. Fun fact: In California you do not have to pay property taxes for structures under ground!
Our group was the last to enter the cave… We’re real mature… Haha!
How cool would it be to have a dinner inside of a wine cave?!?
The tunnels were covered in gunite to prevent moisture and such from leaking in. They did however leave one area exposed for viewing.
Next our guide (pictured below) took us up the road a bit for a lunch. We all opted for pizza and more wine!
The remainder of our afternoon was filled with more wineries and more tastings! Coincidentally, this is kinda where my pictures end… 😉
I just couldn’t stay awake on the trip home… Haha!
Once we were back in San Francisco, our tour guide drove us around to some landmarks before dropping us off in a neighborhood with several good restaurant options for dinner.
Sunday we had an early morning flight which stunk but I was ready to get home and see my kiddos. My mother-in-law very generously offered to stay at our house with the kids while we were gone and we came home to this. Sweet kiddos!
That’s a wrap! I’m so thankful for these sweet friends of mine and for all the opportunities we’ve had to travel together. I can’t wait for our next adventure together!
